Since graduating last month (!) I have had plenty of time to finally read for pleasure. One of the books that I recently finished was titled Fashion: The Collection of the Kyoto Costume Institute - A History from the 18th to the 20th Century. It's a 700+ page book that is full of pictures of clothing from the Kyoto Costume Institute. I highly, highly recommend this book, if only just for eye candy. In addition to the fabulous pictures, the book serves as a history lesson in Western costume and the influence Eastern culture had on the West.
And because the main appeal of the book is its visuals, I chose some photos of items that I am in love with. Really.
(And I apologize for the quality of these photos. They were taken on my phone, so, yeah.)
In order (generally) from oldest to newest:
I think the whole shawl-wrapped-around-the-bosom look should totally be brought back.
How cute is that coat?!
Forget the lady, this men's outfit is bangin'! I would totally rock it while I'm out and about. I mean, let's get a closer look at the boots and pants, shall we?
Come. On. Amazing.
Moving on to the other side of the spectrum, this corset is beautiful! So feminine.
I just love this jacket.
The sleeves on this dress are removable. Removable!
The picture doesn't do it justice, but this dress is totally stunning.
Just plain cute.
Sooo, this is a bathing suit. Apparently it's supposed to be worn with a belt, but I kind of love it without one.
Ahhh that silhouette!
I can totally see Madonna wearing this.
Gorgeous. That's all I have to say.
Eye candy.
Designed to be super functional for the "Urbanite." I think its neat. Think about it, 40 pockets to fill with whatever you want!
I absolutely adore this coat made with down comforter materials. It would be so warm! It's would be like a fashionable Snuggie!
So there it is, now go get it! (I recommend getting it from the library, because it is probably crazy expensive)
